부작용이 늘거나 효과가 떨어지지 않는다"고 강조했다 .

 

한편, 미국 제약사 모더나는 올해 5월부터 한국에 4,000만 회분의 코로나19 백신을

공급하기로 계약을 체결했으며, 이는 약 2,000만 명분에 해당한다.

 

또한, 미국은 한국군 장병 55만 명을 대상으로 한 백신 지원 방침을 밝혀,

한미 간 백신 협력이 강화되고 있다 .

 

그러나, 일반 국민을 대상으로 한 백신 접종률은 여전히 낮은 수준에 머물고 있으며,

백신에 대한 관심도 감소하고 있는 추세다.

 

이에 따라, 정부는 백신 접종의 중요성을 지속적으로 알리고,

접종률을 높이기 위한 다양한 방안을 모색해야 할 것으로 보인다.

Only 850,000 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Left in Korea – Urgent Preparations Needed for Potential Reoutbreak

As of May 29, 2025, Korea’s stockpile of COVID-19 vaccines stands at just 850,000 doses, raising concerns over the nation’s readiness for a potential resurgence of the virus.

In particular, the importance of vaccinating high-risk groups is being highlighted, and calls for the government to take more active measures to ensure stable vaccine supply and improve inoculation rates are growing.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) is recommending simultaneous vaccination against both COVID-19 and influenza for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and immunocompromised individuals. This strategy is aimed at reducing the risk of severe illness.

Professor Woo-Joo Kim, an infectious disease expert at Korea University Guro Hospital, emphasized, “Receiving both influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time does not increase side effects or reduce efficacy.”

Meanwhile, American pharmaceutical company Moderna has signed a contract to supply 40 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to Korea starting in May 2025, which would cover approximately 20 million people.

Additionally, the U.S. government has announced plans to provide vaccines for 550,000 South Korean military personnel, further strengthening vaccine cooperation between the two countries.

However, vaccination rates among the general public remain low, and public interest in vaccination is gradually waning.

In response, the government is expected to continue promoting the importance of vaccination and seek various strategies to improve immunization rates.
